There is only one truth: a citizen from our country was shot and killed.
At 9:45 a.m. on May 9, 2013, the Kuang Ta Hsing No. 28, a fishing boat from Liuchiu Town of Pintung County in Taiwan, embarked towards the Bashi Channel when it suddenly encountered the firing of shots by the Philippine Coast Guard, which then resulted in the death of the Taiwanese fisherman, Mr. Hung Shih-cheng. On the boat, there were 52 bullet holes found.
We are extremely sad because one of ours was killed.
We feel great sorrow because we see a family that has been deprived of a father and a husband.
We are angered because the culprit up to now has not received the proper punishment.
We are peace-loving people, and we have been good friends and neighbors.
But we cannot tolerate that one of ours was killed without getting the proper justice.
All we are asking for is: an apology, uncovering the truth, compensation to the victim's family and the renegotiation of fishing rights.
A loss of life cannot be regained.
But what we want is that the person who has lost his life can receive the most basic respect.
So that his relatives can have some consolation.
Let everyone in the world know that life shouldn't be differentiated by nationalities, and that they all must be protected.
